Alum Spotlight
Jenna Hathaway
2025 VAVA Alum
What years were you part of the club?
I was apart of VAVA from 2021-2025
What originally drew you to join the club?
I originally joined because I was looking for a place I could not only improve my volleyball skills at, but could form real bonds with the girls I played with.
What did being part of this club mean to you?
I met so many amazing people during my time playing at Vava, many of whom are now my lifelong friends!
What is your favorite memory from your time at VAVA?
My favorite memory is my last tournament during my 18s season, getting to play one last time with the girls I had shared the court with for the last four years was sad, but it was amazing to see how much we grew together.
What have you been up to since graduating?
Since graduating, I’ve been playing division 3 volleyball at Stevens institute of technology!
How has volleyball stayed a part of your life?
For me, being able to play volleyball at this level has allowed to me to pursue studies in a time consuming major, engineering, while still getting to play competitive volleyball. Getting to play the sport I love has truly made my college experience better.
What advice would you give to younger players who are interested in playing volleyball in college?
I would say my biggest piece of advice for younger players looking to play in college is to don’t be scared to reach out to a lot of schools. You’re not going to hear back from everyone, but it’ll be a lot easier to get on a coaches radar if you express interest in their program.
